South Snohomish Countys only hygiene center needs help. Can you chip in?

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Jean Kim Foundation is raising $500,000 to secure the property for its hygiene center in Lynnwood, which has provided over 51,000 showers to unhoused individuals since April 2020. An anonymous donor has pledged $2 million, covering most of the $2. 5 million purchase price. The Hazel Miller Foundation has contributed $50,000 toward the goal and encourages community donations to fill the gap. Executive Director Sandra Mears emphasized the center's critical role in providing dignity and support to those facing homelessness.

Daily, the hygiene center serves around 50 guests and expects to provide over 13,100 hot meals by year-end. Guests have access to essential services, including clothing and case management. The property owner has allowed the foundation to use the building rent-free for five years, but plans to sell the land prompted the need for securing a permanent location. Donations can be made online or by contacting Mears directly via email or phone.
