City of Edmonds transportation improvements underway in next few months

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds will implement significant transportation improvements over the next few months, including converting the intersection at SR-524/3rd Avenue South and Pine Street to an all-way stop to address recent collisions. The Washington State Department of Transportation must approve the conversion since it lies on a state route. Local funding will also support sidewalk repairs and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps, with 12 ramps planned for Olympic View Drive. Additionally, a new crosswalk will connect existing sidewalks on Olympic View Drive and 88th Avenue West, featuring pedestrian-activated, solar-powered beacons for enhanced safety. Construction is set to commence in October 2025 and complete by early 2026, reflecting the city's commitment to improving pedestrian safety.

The project aligns with the 2025 Pedestrian Safety Program, which aims to promote active transportation in the community. Local officials encourage public engagement and support for these vital infrastructure upgrades. Bertrand Hauss can be contacted for more information regarding these transportation projects.
