Snohomish County Health confirms E.coli infection linked to raw-milk cheese
The Snohomish County Health Department confirmed an E. coli case linked to Twin Sisters Creamery cheese, part of a cluster of at least 10 cases in Washington and Oregon. The affected cheeses include Whatcom Blue, Farmhouse, Peppercorn, and Mustard Seed varieties, all recalled on October 24, 2025. Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with local, state, and federal health partners to trace the outbreak's source. Consumers are advised to discard any recalled cheese and clean surfaces that may have come into contact with the products.
Those experiencing severe symptoms such as high fever or bloody diarrhea should seek immediate medical care. Vulnerable populations, including pregnant women and individuals with weakened immune systems, should avoid unpasteurized cheese unless heated to 165°F. E. coli bacteria can be transmitted through contaminated food or water, emphasizing the importance of hygiene for food handlers. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and additional products may be identified or recalled as investigations progress.
