Volunteers dive for underwater cleanup at Edmonds Fishing Pier Oct. 19

On Sunday, October 19, the Edmonds Fishing Pier will host an underwater cleanup from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. , spearheaded by Matthew Shawhan and the Emerald Sea Dive Club.

A team of 25 volunteer SCUBA divers will remove debris from under the pier, promoting marine conservation. Volunteers will gather at 9:30 a. m. to set up a community table that will feature fishing gear giveaways and educational materials on shoreline cleanup and marine debris awareness. The first dive is scheduled for the south end of the pier from 11 a.

m. to 1 p. m. , with a second dive at the north end from 2 to 4 p. m.

The pier will be closed to the public during these dive periods for safety reasons. Participants can also sign up for future cleanup events at the community table.
