Edmonds, WALocal News

The Cascade Symphony Orchestra opens its 64th season at 7:30 p. m. on October 27 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, performing works by Mendelssohn, Grieg, Goldmark, Liadov, and Kabalevsky. Music Director Michael Miropolsky describes the concert as an evening of "virtuoso piano music and hidden orchestral gems. " Notably, the program includes the rarely performed 2nd Symphony by Dmitri Kabalevsky, alongside Goldmark's romantic piece from the Rustic Wedding Symphony.

Young pianists Aaron Jin and Jeffrey Zhao will showcase their talents, performing Grieg's and Mendelssohn's concertos, respectively, both of whom have won multiple prestigious awards. Tickets are available for $30 for adults, $25 for those under 50, and $10 for youth aged 12 and under. A pre-concert lecture by KING-FM's Dave Beck will preview the evening’s highlights and enhance audience engagement. The concert not only marks the start of the season but also highlights the CSO's commitment to showcasing emerging talent and lesser-known compositions. Additionally, the orchestra is accepting applications for its Rising Star Competition for young musicians, with a deadline of November 1.
