Edmonds Food Bank ready to support community during government shutdown
The Edmonds Food Bank is actively supporting residents affected by the federal government shutdown, which may disrupt food assistance programs. Executive Director Casey Davis highlighted that community members experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to utilize the food bank's services. The organization prioritizes access to culturally familiar and nutritionally dense foods, ensuring dignity in their service. Online ordering is available starting at 5 p. m.
every Friday, with pickups scheduled for Monday afternoons or Tuesday mornings. If online slots fill up, customers can visit during drop-in hours on Mondays and Tuesdays. The food bank's location on the lower level of the Edmonds United Methodist Church allows it to serve a broad community. Davis noted that if the shutdown extends, delays in SNAP and WIC benefits could exacerbate food access issues. For more information or to donate, individuals can visit the Edmonds Food Bank's website.
