Edmonds, WALocal News

Keep Edmonds Affordable will officially launch its opposition to the City of Edmonds' proposed $14. 5 million levy lid lift on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Edmonds Library. The organization, led by Theresa Hollis and Jon Milkey, aims to unite voters against what they describe as an unprecedented property tax increase. Proposition 1, which will be on the Nov.

4 ballot, seeks to lift the state-imposed 1% annual limit on property tax increases for several years. Supporters claim that the generated funds will help offset budget challenges and sustain city services like police and parks. However, critics warn the levy will impose a significant burden on low-income individuals and families, especially in light of other tax increases due to the city's annexation into the Regional Fire Authority. The campaign's launch event begins at 12:15 p. m.

and will provide information on how community members can get involved. Additionally, a fundraising event is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Vertical Wine Collective to support the cause. For further information, residents can visit KeepEdmondsAffordable. com.
