Verdant awards 6.5 million to 43 South Snohomish County partners for 2026
Verdant Health Commissioners approved $6. 5 million in funding for 43 community partners in South Snohomish County to enhance health services in 2026. This new budget represents a $500,000 increase to meet rising community needs amid reduced federal support for health programs. The funding allocation includes $5. 25 million dedicated to initiatives addressing child and adolescent mental health and access to direct healthcare services.
The remaining $1. 25 million supports food security, domestic violence services, and assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness. Verdant Board President Karianna Wilson stated that the commissioners felt compelled to increase funding due to the significant demand for these services. Since 2011, Verdant has invested over $93. 5 million into local health initiatives, reaching more than 150 unique recipients.
The funded organizations range from the Edmonds School District's health centers to mental health programs like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County's Behavioral Health Uplift Initiative. These investments aim to significantly improve the overall health and well-being of South Snohomish County residents.
