Edmonds Petanque Club wins Cross Sound Cup

The Edmonds Petanque Club secured a noteworthy victory against the Port Townsend Petanque Alliance, winning the third annual Cross Sound Cup 14-9 on Saturday. Featuring twelve players from each team, the event included triples, doubles, and singles matches, showcasing diverse skills. Edmonds took an early lead by winning three of four triples games, setting the tone for the day. The teams split the doubles matches, with each earning three points, but it was the singles matches that determined the final outcome. Edmonds dominated by winning seven out of twelve singles contests, culminating in a strong closing performance in the pointing and shooting contest.

The team’s performance highlights the increasing interest and participation in petanque within the local community. Team captain Paul Dever and his teammates, including Wendy Chaffee and Greg Conyers, played vital roles in this success. This event not only celebrates local talent but also fosters community engagement through sports.
