Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds School District will screen all second- and sixth-grade students this fall to identify those who may benefit from highly capable services. The assessments will take place from November 4 through December 18, conducted by the district’s highly capable program staff. Families, staff, and community members can submit referrals for students in other grades, emphasizing a collaborative approach to identifying gifted students. Key characteristics that may indicate a need for these services include curiosity, quick learning, and the ability to think creatively about complex ideas. Highly capable services are designed to cater to academically advanced students, providing a curriculum that surpasses standard classroom instruction.

Parents are encouraged to fill out referral forms available in multiple languages by October 15, 2025.
