Public invited to fall cleanup at Picnic Point Beach Sept. 20

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Olympic Fly Fishers of Edmonds and the Snohomish County Healthy Forest Project will host a fall cleanup at Picnic Point Beach on September 20 from noon to 2 p. m. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to join efforts to clear invasive species and prepare native plants for winter. Earlier this year, nearly 90 native species were planted along the shoreline to enhance local ecosystems. Greg Sisson, OFF president, highlighted the importance of preserving these habitats for future generations.

Helena Puche, OFF conservation chair, noted that healthy vegetation stabilizes streambanks and supports wildlife. Participants should wear layered clothing and bring a reusable water bottle. Free parking is available, but it may fill quickly, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early or carpool. The cleanup is crucial for the long-term health of Puget Sound’s ecosystems.
