Council scheduled to consider cultural access sales tax at Sept. 9 meeting
The Edmonds City Council is set to consider a 0. 1 percent cultural access sales tax at its meeting on Sept. 9, which could raise $1. 3 million each year for up to seven years to fund nonprofit programs in the arts, science, and heritage. The council held a public hearing on the proposed tax on Aug.
19, where community input was gathered. Additionally, the council approved a 0. 10 percent public safety sales tax during that meeting. Other items on the agenda include the approval of updated opioid settlement participation forms and a monthly financial report for July 2025. Minor revisions to the tree code will also be discussed.
The council will recognize Cascadia Art Museum Day and National Suicide Prevention Month with proclamations. The meeting will take place at 6 p. m. in the Public Safety Complex and will be available for live streaming. Residents can participate via Zoom or by phone to provide comments.
