Washington Conservation Corps gears up for another year of service

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is actively recruiting over 250 members for its service year starting October 1, 2025, focusing on environmental stewardship. Young adults aged 18-25 and military veterans will tackle projects like habitat restoration and disaster response. Members will receive hands-on training in critical areas, including wildland firefighting and hazardous waste operations. The partnership with AmeriCorps, established in 1994, has been vital for expanding WCC's reach and member benefits. However, recent federal cuts to AmeriCorps have created uncertainty regarding funding and benefits for the upcoming service year.

Despite these challenges, WCC has structured its budget to ensure program continuity. Interested candidates can apply online, with interviews for field crew positions scheduled on a rolling basis. This initiative not only offers career development but also contributes significantly to local environmental efforts.
