Edmonds Councilmembers Tibbott and Olson earn municipal leadership certificates

Edmonds, WALocal News

Edmonds City Council President Neil Tibbott and Councilmember Vivian Olson recently earned Certificates of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. Tibbott received advanced certification, demonstrating his commitment to ongoing leadership development since joining the council in 2016. Olson, who has served since 2019 and is a U. S. Air Force Academy graduate, completed the core certification program.

The AWC's program acknowledges elected officials for training in five essential competency areas: legal operation, future planning, financial management, community relationships, and equity building. Those with advanced certification have shown a continued commitment to excellence through additional training and community service. Tibbott is also the executive director of Leadership OnRamp, which focuses on leadership development through coaching and workshops. Their achievements highlight the significance of leadership education in local governance. As cities face increasing complexity in governance, such training enhances the capability of elected officials to serve their communities effectively.
