Nightly northbound I-5 express lane reductions scheduled Aug. 25 to Sept. 11 in Seattle

Edmonds, WALocal News

Northbound Interstate 5 will experience nightly lane reductions starting on August 25 and continuing through September 11 due to drainage pipe installation. The express lanes will close fully at 9 p. m. on select nights, specifically August 27-28, impacting typical traffic patterns. This work is part of the I-5/Yesler Way to Northgate Vicinity project, which aims to enhance roadway infrastructure.

Lane reductions will occur from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while weekends and the Labor Day holiday on September 1 will remain unaffected.

Drivers are encouraged to utilize the WSDOT mobile app and Travel Center Map for real-time travel updates. The project is significant for improving water drainage systems, which can reduce flooding risks on the interstate. Interested individuals can sign up for weekly email updates to monitor progress. The ongoing construction reflects a broader commitment to maintaining and upgrading Washington's transportation infrastructure.
