The Edmonds-Woodway High School Jazz Colony will host its annual Combo Workshop performance on August 27 from 6-8 p. m. at Mainstreet Commons. The event features five combos directed by educator Jake Bergevin, who pairs students with professional jazz musician mentors, many of whom are successful alumni. This collaboration fosters a dynamic learning environment, allowing students to gain confidence and refine their improvisational skills.

The performance will include a vibrant mix of classic jazz standards and creative improvisations, reflecting the hard work of the young musicians. Support for the Jazz Colony comes from local organizations like the Hazel Miller Foundation and Kennelly Keys Music, highlighting community involvement in the arts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own folding lawn chairs to enjoy the evening.
