Edmonds, WALocal News

George Brennan, vice president of Propeller Airports, shared plans for Paine Field Airport's expansion at the Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The airport expects to grow its passenger capacity to 4. 3 million annually by 2040, following a 23% increase in traffic since 2020. Currently, Paine Field offers flights to nine western U. S.

destinations and is targeting major eastern hubs for future routes. The airport aims to restore direct service to Anchorage, which was cut by Alaska Airlines in 2024. With the FIFA World Cup approaching in 2026, Propeller is collaborating with SeaTac Airport and local hotels to attract soccer fans to Snohomish County. An advertising program for local businesses has been launched to drive traffic to the terminal. Lynnwood is identified as a key destination for arriving passengers, with nearby attractions like Alderwood Mall.

Local business leaders are urged to pursue marketing opportunities to benefit from increased visitor activity.
