Spotlight Matilda the Musical JR. A little mischief can change everything

Students from Edmonds Heights K-12 Performing Arts will perform “Matilda the Musical JR. ” on August 29 at 7 p. m. and August 30 at 2 p. m.

and 7 p. m. at Edmonds Heights K-12 Theatre. The musical, adapted from Roald Dahl’s novel, tells the story of Matilda, a gifted girl who uses her psychokinetic abilities to challenge her oppressive headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Drew Cohen, president of Music Theatre International, praised a significant moment in the show, stating, “Even if you are little, you can do a lot,” which reflects the production's empowering message.

This performance not only entertains but also encourages students to collaborate and create something meaningful for their community. The original version of the musical debuted in London in 2011 and won seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards, solidifying its status in theatrical history. “Matilda the Musical JR. ” is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International, which also provides all authorized performance materials.
