Aug. 29 marks final day to apply for 2025 SUN Bucks program

Edmonds, WALocal News

More than 533,000 children in Washington state have received nearly $64 million in SUN Bucks benefits this summer, according to the Department of Social and Health Services. This program provides a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child to promote food access during summer months. Automatic benefits were issued to children aged 8-18 in households participating in SNAP or TANF and to those attending schools that meet free or reduced-price meal criteria. Children who do not qualify automatically can still apply if they meet certain income guidelines. The application process is available online in both English and Spanish, with submissions for summer 2025 accepted until August 29, 2025.

Benefits from SUN Bucks are in addition to other summer Child Nutrition Programs. Families are encouraged to continue participating in local meal programs even if they receive SUN Bucks. Help is available through the SUN Bucks Contact Center for any questions or assistance.
