The Edmonds College Rocketry Team recently showcased their talents at the International Rocketry Engineering Competition in Midland, Texas, competing against more than 150 teams. Their journey included overcoming significant challenges, such as delays due to a late-arriving rocket and harsh weather conditions. Judge feedback highlighted the team’s engineering prowess, with club advisor William Hamp stating that their participation alone distinguished them from many competitors. Support from Washington State University was pivotal, as they provided spare parts and accommodations during the event. Despite facing a storm that disrupted launch preparations, the team successfully launched their rocket after a rigorous safety check.

The successful recovery of the rocket affirmed months of hard work and dedication. This experience not only provided technical skills but also fostered community and collaboration among competing teams. It serves as a testament to what Edmonds College students can achieve through vision and teamwork.
