Foundation for Edmonds School District surpasses goal to save music programs
The Foundation for Edmonds School District raised over $302,000 for its Save the Arts Campaign, surpassing its initial fundraising goal. This initiative aims to preserve vital music programs in the district amid projected budget cuts that threatened these educational opportunities. Philanthropist Rick Steves played a significant role in the campaign by leading a challenge match that inspired community contributions. The raised funds will support eight music classes, including jazz, orchestra, and choir, ensuring students can continue to engage in creative expression. Tam Osborne, the district’s visual & performing arts manager, highlighted the extraordinary community response that made this success possible.
She noted the importance of music education in developing critical thinking and teamwork skills. Foundation Executive Director Deborah Brandi praised the collective commitment of local citizens, emphasizing that their support sends a clear message: music matters. The campaign's achievements will directly impact students' educational experiences in the Edmonds School District.
