Sponsor spotlight What parenthood is teaching me about collective care
The Edmonds Food Bank is launching its second baby formula drive from August 6-13, responding to a significant increase in demand from local families. Last year, the food bank raised over $2,700 in just three days, demonstrating the community's willingness to support one another during challenging times. Staff member Kellie Lewis, who began volunteering shortly after becoming a mother, shared her journey from volunteer to staff, emphasizing the personal connections she has made with families. The rise in food prices and cuts in federal support have intensified the need for assistance among parents and caregivers. Donations can be made via Venmo, through an Amazon Wishlist, or in person at the food bank.
Lewis recounted poignant moments with mothers at the food bank, illustrating the emotional bonds formed through shared experiences of motherhood. The drive aims to ensure that no parent has to face the challenge of formula access alone. As the community rallies together, the food bank remains dedicated to fostering collective care and support.
