U.S. Navy ships to arrive in Seattle for Seafair Fleet Week

The U. S. Navy will offer public tours of the USS Jack H. Lucas and USS Somerset at Seattle’s Pier 46 from July 31 to August 3, with tours available daily from 10 a. m.

to 4 p. m. To ensure safety, all visitors must present REAL ID-compliant identification and will undergo security screenings. The event facilitates interaction with sailors and showcases the Navy's capabilities, enhancing public awareness of maritime defense. Security protocols prohibit items such as weapons, large bags, and open-toed shoes on ships, while strollers are allowed at the pier but not onboard.

Those with limited mobility will have alternative options for engagement, as they cannot board the ships. This initiative is part of the annual Seafair festivities, which celebrate community and maritime heritage. The Navy aims to strengthen ties with the public and inform them about its operations and contributions to national security.
