Asian Service Center hosting 2nd annual Dragon Boat Festival Aug. 1

The Asian Service Center will host its second annual Dragon Boat Festival on August 1 from 4-7 p. m. at the Edmonds Waterfront Center. This event honors the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan and aims to celebrate Asian heritage with dragon boats, live cultural performances, and a variety of Asian culinary offerings. Guests can view and board dragon boats, with rides available depending on weather conditions.

Performers will include professional Taiko drummers and Seattle Chinatown Lion Dancers, showcasing the region's rich cultural diversity. The festival also highlights the Asian Service Center's mission to support immigrant communities in South Snohomish County, where Asians now account for 24% of the population. Since 2020, this demographic has grown by 9%, underscoring the center's relevance. Upcoming initiatives will address mental health support and domestic violence prevention.
