New Edmonds mural Drift celebrates magic of Puget Sound above and below

Edmonds, WALocal News

"Drift," a newly unveiled mural by Will Schlough, transforms the Reef Apartments in Edmonds into a stunning visual tribute to the Puget Sound. The mural depicts a Pacific sea nettle jellyfish, its oral arms echoing the form of clouds against a vivid sunset. Initiated by building owners Jay and Tiffany Bennett, the project arose from a need to replace a deteriorating wall, showcasing the couple's passion for local art. Schlough's creative breakthrough came from recognizing the jellyfish's oral arms as cloud-like, merging oceanic and atmospheric elements. Mural Project Edmonds Chair Mark VonGunten praised the mural's imaginative realism, marking it as a significant addition to the city's public art.

The initiative aligns with Art Walk Edmonds' commitment to fostering diverse artistic styles within the community. Funding for such projects primarily stems from popular events like the Summer Wine Walks, alongside individual donations and business sponsorships. Art Walk Edmonds continues to pursue further public art projects, enhancing Edmonds' cultural landscape.
