Weekend travel alert Multiple highway closures across central Puget Sound July 25-28

Edmonds, WALocal News

WSDOT announced that significant road construction will occur across central Puget Sound from July 25 to July 28, affecting major highways. Northbound Interstate 5 will be reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge, while southbound State Route 167 will close for bridge maintenance in Kent. Travelers should prepare for delays and follow signed detours during these closures. Eastbound State Route 18 in Auburn will also close for paving work, and overnight closures of northbound I-5 in Pierce County will facilitate overpass construction. WSDOT coordinates these efforts to improve infrastructure while managing the limited warm weather season.

The agency urges travelers to plan ahead, use the Travel Center map, and consider public transit options. This construction is part of ongoing maintenance and improvement efforts to vital transportation routes. By informing the public, WSDOT aims to keep traffic flowing efficiently during the closures.
