Geving returns as E-W basketball coach Hershey takes on AD role

Edmonds, WALocal News

Tyler Geving returns as head coach of the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors boys basketball team after leading them to a remarkable 26-3 record and a second-place finish in the state tournament last season. He has opted to step down from his role as athletic coordinator to comply with Edmonds School District policy, which limits individuals to one position unless under extraordinary circumstances. Jennie Hershey, a 1991 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, has been appointed the new athletic coordinator, bringing over 25 years of experience within the district. McGuire commended Geving for his dedication and knowledge, highlighting his previous coaching roles at several universities. Hershey, a former three-sport athlete at E-W and a collegiate soccer star, has a rich history with the school's athletic programs.

The transition comes as the 2025-2026 school year is set to begin on September 3, with boys' basketball practices commencing on November 17. Geving's leadership last season resulted in the best state performance for E-W boys basketball in the school's history. The community anticipates continued success under both Geving and Hershey's leadership.
