Edmonds teen nails champion hat trick at Summer Smash tennis tourney

Luke Madath, a senior from Bishop Blanchet, achieved a remarkable feat by winning three championships at the 10th Annual Snohomish Summer Smash tennis tournament. He defeated Shorewood’s Xander Gordon in the Boys Gold Singles final, showcasing his skill and determination. In the Boys Gold Doubles competition, Madath teamed up with Shorewood graduate Peter Kosten, further solidifying their dominance on the court. He capped off his day by winning the Mixed Gold Doubles title with Rylie Gettmann, a four-time Wesco District Champion. The Summer Smash has transformed since its launch in 2015, growing from 48 participants to over 175 players from more than 30 schools in the region.
