Spotlight Oliver Popa, local 7-year-old author of Drippey Plants a Garden
On July 25, 7-year-old Oliver Popa will read his book “Drippey Plants a Garden” at Edmonds Bookshop, engaging a story time audience with his cheerful narrative about a bee planting a garden. Following the reading, attendees can participate in a coloring activity and request book signings. This event showcases young talent, with Oliver's mother, Whitney Popa, actively involved in the local business community. The following day, July 26, the Sno-Isle Sierra Club invites the public to Whidbey Island for a day of activities, starting with a film screening of “Orcas – Life in Black and White. ” This documentary provides an intimate look at orca cultures and their interactions in the Salish Sea, emphasizing environmental stewardship.
A Q&A with filmmaker Florian Graner will follow the screening, offering insights into the making of the film. Participants can then enjoy a hike in either Putney or Saratoga Woods, concluding with dinner at a local restaurant. Both events highlight community engagement and appreciation for the arts and environment.
