Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Club keeps district music going with 10.5K donation

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Club significantly contributed to the Edmonds School District by donating $10,500 on July 8, bolstering local music education initiatives. This donation continues a 23-year tradition of supporting the Edmonds Jazz Connection, a festival that allows district musicians to perform for the community. This year's event included 15 bands and choirs, showcasing the talent of local students. In addition to the donation, the Daybreakers provided five scholarships of $2,500 each and funds to various high school booster clubs. The school board also approved a $4 million contract with North Coast Electric to replace lighting at Edmonds-Woodway High School with LED fixtures, promoting energy efficiency.

Furthermore, the board unanimously adopted the 2025-2026 budget, which anticipates a surplus of $2. 6 million by the end of the period. This surplus represents less than two days of routine district expenses, highlighting the need for careful financial planning. The next board meeting will take place on August 19, providing an opportunity for community engagement.
