Southbound I-5 mainline to close in downtown Seattle overnight July 11

Edmonds, WALocal News

Southbound I-5 in downtown Seattle will close overnight from 11 p. m. on July 11 to 6 a. m. on July 12 for maintenance work, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The closure will affect all lanes from the Stewart Street off-ramp to the Spring Street on-ramp, compelling vehicles to exit at Stewart Street. Key ramp closures include Eastbound Mercer Street and Yale Avenue, among others. During the closure, WSDOT maintenance crews will conduct fire system testing under the Seattle Convention Center. Travelers should expect delays and consider using express lanes, which will remain open for southbound traffic. The northbound express lanes will close early to accommodate this maintenance work.

For real-time traffic information, the WSDOT traffic app and real-time travel map are available. This maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and operational efficiency within the downtown Seattle area.
