Skandia hosting First and Third Friday folk dances in July at Cedar Valley Grange

Skandia Folk Dance Society announces two upcoming dances at Cedar Valley Grange in Lynnwood this July. The First Friday Dance on July 4 runs from 7:30–10:30 p. m. , featuring instruction in reinlender variants by Elaine and Paul Everitt, with free admission for all musicians and dancers. This dance introduces participants to a basic yet enjoyable Norwegian style, encouraging community involvement.

The Third Friday Dance on July 18 will teach Kalle P. vals, a beloved Swedish waltz, for a fee of $15 or $10 for Skandia members. Harry Khamis and Pat Pi will lead the instruction, starting with a review of the original dance and then incorporating two additional parts recently added. Music will be provided by Hale Bill and the Bopps, along with guest fiddler Ingrid Hamberg and her Swedish husband. Skandia Folk Dance Society emphasizes the cultural significance of folk dancing as a means of community engagement and preservation of traditions.
