Alex Newman kicked off his campaign for Edmonds City Council Position 3 at Brigid’s Bottleshop, attracting around 50 supporters. His candidacy received endorsements from prominent local figures, including Edmonds City Councilmembers and State Representatives, signaling strong community support. The current council position is held by Neil Tibbott, who is not running for reelection, leaving an open contest for Newman, Erika Barnett, and Joseph Ademofe. The primary election on August 5 will determine which two candidates advance to the general election on November 4.

Newman criticized budget cuts and proposed creative revenue solutions to enhance public safety and environmental protection. He stressed the importance of civic engagement and partnerships to tackle housing affordability and other pressing issues. His campaign focuses on transparency, community engagement, and bipartisan collaboration, aiming to foster a more inclusive governance approach.
