Port Commissioners inch closer to posting executive director job and agree to make meetings shorter

Edmonds, WALocal News

Port commissioners took significant steps during their June 24 meeting, approving the Delegation of Authority document and refining the executive director job description, which could lead to a job posting by July 29. Deputy Director Brandon Baker has temporarily filled the executive director position since Angela Harris's resignation. The draft 20-year Capital Improvement Plan, presented by Finance Director Tsz Yan Brady, outlines $82 million in projects aimed at waterfront access, economic growth, and environmental stewardship. The plan categorizes over 40 projects by cost, funding sources, and timelines. Brady emphasized its utility in strategic planning, particularly for possible Harbor Square redevelopment.

In an effort to improve meeting efficiency, commissioners agreed to implement new best practices, including time constraints and offline work. They also opted to pause grant writing financial commitments for the year, resulting in a $25,000 savings. The commissioners aim to enhance organizational effectiveness while continuing to prioritize community needs.
