Wife of Weezer bassist shot by LAPD and charged with attempted murder

Des Moines, IALocal News

Jillian Shriner, an author and the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident with LAPD officers in Los Angeles. The situation unfolded as police were tracking suspects from an unrelated hit-and-run and discovered Shriner armed with a handgun in the backyard of a neighboring home. Despite repeated orders to drop her weapon, Shriner pointed the gun at the officers, leading to an officer-involved shooting that resulted in her being struck. After fleeing into her home, she eventually exited and was taken into custody. A 9-millimeter handgun was subsequently found at her residence, raising concerns about her actions during the encounter.

Shriner was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and released on a $1 million bond the following morning. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 30. This incident not only impacts her family but also raises questions about police engagement protocols during armed confrontations.
