Des Moines, IALocal News

Des Moines Public Works has commenced curbside collection of tree debris resulting from recent storms, beginning on August 17, 2020. In a remarkable effort, over 1,700 truckloads have been collected in just four days, highlighting the scale of the storm's impact on the community. Public Works Director Jonathan Gano urged residents to remain patient, as the cleanup may extend over several weeks. To alleviate the burden on residents, the city has waived yard waste sticker requirements for an additional week. Those who can dispose of their debris independently are encouraged to visit the MWA Compost Center, which will operate on Saturday, August 22.

An interactive map is available for residents to track the progress of debris collection throughout the city. This initiative not only addresses immediate storm recovery but also showcases the city's commitment to efficient public service.
