Cleanup Effort Goes High-Tech

The City of Des Moines has significantly upgraded its storm debris cleanup operations by implementing an interactive mapping system on its website. This innovative tool allows residents to track cleanup progress, providing real-time updates on where work has been completed and upcoming areas for debris removal. Public Works Director Jonathan Gano emphasized the efficiency of the crews, noting they have already collected over 2,000 loads of storm debris within a week. In a bid to support residents, the city has waived yard waste sticker requirements for the duration of the cleanup. Those who can dispose of their own storm debris are encouraged to visit the MWA Compost Center, which will be open this Saturday.

With over 3,000 loads already deposited by residents, the city is actively engaging the community in its efforts. For any inquiries or further assistance, residents can reach out to the Public Works Customer Service Center. This proactive approach reflects the city's commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the community.
