Following a significant summer storm, Des Moines has made impressive strides in its curbside collection of storm debris, clearing over 7,300 loads in just four weeks. Public Works Director Jonathan Gano expressed gratitude to residents for their patience throughout this extensive collection effort, which has serviced nearly 70% of the city. The remaining 30% is expected to be collected shortly, either this week or early next week. Residents can stay informed about the cleanup process through updated interactive maps, which detail when crews will arrive at specific addresses. However, any new debris placed at already serviced locations will not be collected.

To manage additional storm debris, residents are advised to either follow regular yard waste disposal guidelines or participate in the upcoming SCRUB event on September 19.
