Des Moines Parks and Recreation has announced the release of its "2021 Report to the Community," which details the department's substantial accomplishments over the past year. With 1,443 facilities rented and 1,939 dog park permits sold, the report underscores the growing participation in recreational programs. More than 3,200 individuals benefited from swimming lessons, while volunteers contributed over 21,000 hours of service valued at $608,115. Director Benjamin R. Notably, 72,142 visitors engaged with the city's aquatic centers, and 109,545 rounds of golf were played at local courses, demonstrating the department's vital role in promoting outdoor activities.
