Gov. Bill Lee will not attend fundraiser for North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson

Clarksville, TNLocal News

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has officially canceled his attendance at a fundraiser for North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, which was supposed to be held at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. The cancellation was confirmed by Lee's spokeswoman, who stated that the event was called off earlier in the week. This decision comes in the wake of a CNN report detailing numerous inflammatory comments Robinson made on social media prior to his political career, including self-identifying as a "black NAZI!

" and expressing controversial views on slavery. Robinson has vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as "salacious tabloid trash" and attributing their emergence to his political opponent, Josh Stein. Despite the controversies, Robinson has vowed to remain in the gubernatorial race. The fundraiser was significant as it was part of Lee's role as chairman of the Republican Governors Association. Questions are now being raised about the implications of these controversies on Robinson's campaign and the broader political landscape.

Lee's office has not clarified whether he considers Robinson a man of character deserving of endorsement.
