Burglars Steal 130,000 in Louis Vuitton Merch From River North Nordstrom, Reports Say

Chicago, ILLocal News

A group of 10 burglars stormed a Nordstrom store in River North on Sunday evening, stealing approximately $130,000 worth of designer merchandise. Police reported that the suspects forced their way inside just before 7 p. m. , clashing with a security guard and causing around $5,000 in damages to the entrance. Once inside, they swarmed a Louis Vuitton boutique, taking high-value items before fleeing in three cars.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and police have not made any arrests as they continue to investigate. By Monday afternoon, the store had made necessary repairs, and a worker confirmed that the Louis Vuitton shelves were restocked. This incident follows a similar smash-and-grab burglary at a Foot Locker store in Douglas, where suspects used a Jeep to break through the front windows. The high-profile nature of the theft raises concerns about crime rates in Chicago, with local shoppers expressing shock at the brazen act. The presence of an armed security guard outside the Louis Vuitton stall highlights the ongoing challenges retailers face in ensuring security.
