Seniors and activists plan No Kings rally in Des Moines this Saturday, June 14

Burien, WALocal News

Two grassroots organizations, Seniors for the Constitution and Indivisible Des Moines, will hold a “No Kings” rally on June 14, 2025, at Big Catch Plaza to protest against authoritarianism and political corruption. The event will run from 1 to 3 p. m. and aims to raise awareness about the perceived threats to democracy posed by President Trump and his allies. Attendees will enjoy live music and can contribute to the local community by bringing non-perishable food or cash donations for the Des Moines Area Food Bank.

One organizer highlighted the importance of engaging young people, stating, “We’re doing this for them, for our grandchildren and yours. ” The rally is part of a coordinated national effort addressing civil liberties infringements and proposed cuts to welfare programs. More than 400 members of the organizing groups are expected to participate. Parking will be available at the plaza and nearby lots, with carpooling encouraged to ease traffic. Detailed information can be found at the Seniors for the Constitution website.
