Burien, WALocal News

The Men in Black Birthday Bash Fest 2025 kicks off on June 13 in Des Moines, WA, beginning with an alien abductee lookalike contest inspired by a popular SNL character. This annual event celebrates the Maury Island Incident, a pivotal moment in UFO history where a Tacoma man reported seeing flying objects in 1947. The festival features a variety of quirky events, with the main celebration on June 21, when guests dress in black and white for an evening filled with music and entertainment, concluding with an afterparty at Waterland Arcade. On June 22, the festival wraps up with Sparky’s Revenge Dog Flying Disc Contest, honoring a dog allegedly connected to the Maury Island Incident. Tickets for the events are available through EventBrite, and more information can be found on the MIBBB Fest website and social media.

This festival, founded in 2022 by local residents, aims to share the intriguing stories of Des Moines' history. Steve Edmiston, a notable local figure, has played a role in promoting the event and its historical significance. The MIBBB Fest not only entertains but also educates attendees about a unique aspect of regional lore.
