Free Bug BioBlitz and Bonsai Swap coming to Buriens Shark Garden in June
The Shark Garden in Burien will host two engaging nature-focused events this June. The Bug BioBlitz is scheduled for June 14 from 1 to 4 p. m. , where families can learn to use the iNaturalist app to identify local biodiversity. Experts from the Washington Native Bee Society will be available to assist with species identification.
“This is a great opportunity to contribute to citizen science while having fun in the garden,” said organizer Taryn Koerker. The Bonsai Swap Meet follows on June 21 from 1 to 5 p. m. , providing a platform for local bonsai enthusiasts to buy, sell, or trade plants. A live demonstration will occur at 2 p.
m. , with experienced growers ready to share their expertise. Organizers recommend interested vendors to email in advance due to limited space. Both events promote community engagement and environmental awareness in Burien.
