Lane and ramp closures on I-5, SR 509 and SR 516 in South King County continue this week

Burien, WALocal News

Lane and ramp closures on I-5, SR 509, and SR 516 will disrupt traffic from June 9 through June 13, 2025, as crews perform paving and drainage work. These closures impact Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Kent, with specific lane restrictions detailed for each route. Overnight closures on I-5 will include up to three lanes shutting down between South 200th Street and SR 516, while SR 516 will see nightly one-lane closures. The SR 509 Completion Project is crucial for improving access to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, with the first segment scheduled to open in summer 2025. Detours will be clearly marked for motorists during the closures.

The project involves constructing three miles of new tolled highway, aiming to finish by 2029. The Puget Sound Gateway Program encompasses this project, addressing critical gaps in the regional highway network. Enhanced connectivity will benefit both local commuters and freight movement in the area.
