Local amateur radio operators to showcase emergency communications skills at annual Field Day in Normandy Park on Saturday, June 28

Burien, WALocal News

The Highline Amateur Radio Club (HARC) will showcase emergency communication skills during the ARRL Field Day on June 28, 2025, at Marvista Park in Normandy Park. This free event runs from noon to 7 p. m. and aims to raise public awareness about amateur radio's essential role in emergency response efforts. HARC provides emergency communication support for local communities, including Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac.

Visitors can participate in hands-on activities at one high-frequency station, designed for “Get on the Air” experiences, where they can make radio contacts with other stations across the country. This year’s theme, “RADIO CONNECTS,” highlights the importance of wireless technology in enhancing public safety during disasters. The club emphasizes that this event is an opportunity to observe the work of Emergency Communications volunteers. Attendees will find free parking and ADA accessibility, inviting greater community participation. The event serves as both a demonstration of technical skills and a vital resource for local emergency preparedness.
