New 7-mile segment of Lake to Sound Trail to open this Saturday, June 7 in SeaTac

Burien, WALocal News

SeaTac will celebrate the grand opening of a seven-mile segment of the Lake to Sound Trail on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11 a. m. This new section enhances connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists between Burien and SeaTac, with future links extending to Des Moines. Once completed, the 16-mile trail will stretch from the southern tip of Lake Washington to the Puget Sound shoreline. The ceremony will feature King County Executive Shannon Braddock alongside local officials and community leaders.

Funding for the expansion was secured through the voter-approved King County Parks Levy and contributions from state and local organizations. This development not only fosters recreational opportunities but also supports regional transit connections. The public is encouraged to attend the event, explore the new trail, and learn about its importance in the regional transportation network. The Lake to Sound Trail marks a significant investment in community infrastructure and sustainable transportation options.
