REMINDER 4.05 extreme low tide will hit Burien during Wednesdays lunch hour

A rare extreme low tide of –4. 05 will occur at Burien’s Seahurst Park on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:20 p. m. , allowing for unprecedented tidepool exploration. The Seattle Aquarium’s Beach Naturalist program will be present from 11 a.

m. to 2 p. m. to educate visitors about the unique marine life found in the area. Participants will learn about creatures such as sea stars, barnacles, and moon snails, enhancing their appreciation for the shoreline ecosystem.

Beachgoers are urged to tread carefully to avoid harming vulnerable sea life during their explorations. Additional low tide events will feature Environmental Science Center’s Beach Naturalists, who will assist in safe exploration on various dates throughout late June and July. This initiative emphasizes the importance of responsible beachcombing and environmental stewardship. By connecting people with marine life, the program aims to foster a deeper understanding of the fragile shoreline environment. This rare natural occurrence highlights the significance of marine ecosystems and the need for conservation efforts.
