Sparkys Revenge Dog Disc Tournament on Sunday, June 22 will pay tribute to 1947 Maury Island Incident victim

The “Sparky’s Revenge” dog disc tournament will take place on June 22 at the Des Moines Field House, honoring Sparky, a dog killed in the 1947 Maury Island Incident. This event is part of the Men In Black Birthday Bash, which commemorates the first alleged encounter with the Men in Black. The tournament will feature dogs from the Summit Disc Dog club, known for their participation in the K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch Worldwide League. Co-founder Steve Edmiston emphasized the need to remember Sparky's tragic story, which has largely been forgotten. The event runs from 11 a.

m. to 1 p. m. and is free to the public. MIBBB Fest will run from June 13 to 22, offering various activities, including an alien abductee lookalike contest and a signature cosplay event.

The Summit Disc Dog club has won numerous championships and brings excitement to the tournament atmosphere. This local festival was founded by Des Moines residents passionate about preserving their unique history.
