Bistro Baffi closes in Normandy Park after owner cites crime, lack of support

Burien, WALocal News

Bistro Baffi, a beloved Italian restaurant in Normandy Park, officially shut down on May 16, 2025, after struggling with several adverse factors. Owner Nirav Sheth attributed the closure to rising crime rates, ongoing financial difficulties, and a lack of support from local government. Over the past two years, the restaurant suffered four break-ins, which severely impacted its operations and finances in the aftermath of the pandemic. In an emotional social media post, Sheth criticized the gap between governmental promises of support and the reality faced by small business owners. Bistro Baffi was well-known for its cocktails and intimate ambiance, creating cherished memories for the local community.

Sheth, who previously ran for Congress in 2024, expressed his anger and disappointment over the state of small businesses. The restaurant’s closure highlights the ongoing struggles many entrepreneurs face in Washington state. A new establishment is expected to take over the Bistro Baffi location, but further details have yet to be announced.
